2019 Hong Kong protests

A dozen protesters reportedly tried to flee through the university’s sewerage system, but failed to get out of the building.
Protests in Hong Kong have grown increasingly violent over the last four months. While the protests were initially started when an extradition bill was nearly pushed through the legal system, the protests have grown to become a struggle for democracy in Hong Kong. People from the special administrative region who are living and studying in the UK have been protesting in support, and want the UK government to take a stand to support its former colony.
Hundreds of people are holed up at the Polytechnic University campus as protests rage on after six months.
