Organisers say at least 300,000 people have taken part in the global strikes on the climate emergency. Adults have been urged to join school students this week in their Friday school strikes, a protest begun by Greta Thunberg.
“We don’t want to be heard," the 16-year-old climate activist told a task force of Senate Democrats. "We want the science to be heard.”
Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been given an award from Amnesty International for starting the Friday's for Future movement. Thunberg is in Washington D.C. for several days of rallies and lobbying efforts ahead of addressing the U.N. Climate Summit later in the month.
