Scientists announced on Wednesday that two embryos of the northern white rhino have been successfully fertilised. The precious embryos will soon be transferred into female southern white rhinos to hopefully save the functionally extinct species.

A large tiger was found in a home in Houston, Texas, after people went in the property to smoke cannabis. The tiger was later taken into care by a wildlife sanctuary. Although it is legal to own a tiger in Texas, it is illegal to do so in the state's most populous city, Houston.

Four people were injured as a wild leopard tried to escape the rangers trying to remove him from a town in northern Punjab. The animal had strayed into the residential area and alarmed residents called authorities to remove it. Incidents between animals and people are rising in India as people move increasingly into the natural habitats of wild animals and even inside reserves. The injures were not life-threatening.
