1,000 Days Sober: How Quitting Alcohol Has Changed My Life

The first thing I noticed was the quality of sleep that I was experiencing. While it took me longer to drop off due to my brain being so alert, I felt energised when the alarm clock rang. The blurred edges had disappeared. With that my lower back pain also went, and my sinus issue was a thing of the past.

Why I Won't Be Detoxing My Wardrobe Any Time Soon

Kondo tells us that you should only keep clothing that "brings you joy". I agree you should choose clothes that make you happy and feel confident, but what about the practical? If I pull out a skirt I want a black top to wear with it - now I may want a tight one, a long sleeve one, a vest top, a polo neck - you get the picture.

Fast forward to January 2015 and once again I decided to give Dry January a go, remembering all the positive feelings felt a year earlier. When I was working for the UK's leading employer I was told that I needed to stop bleaching my hair to get promoted. Having hit the bleach bottle since I was 13, I explained that as a dyed blonde I had to work harder than my colleagues in all situations to be taken seriously.
