Described as one of the most chemically perfect of foods, chocolate contains an interesting mix of ingredients which make you predisposed to like it. Caffeine, antioxidants and proteins are all present in addition to chemicals such as Serotonin which purportedly recreate the feelings of being in love.
OK ladies, if you're like me you've probably eaten ten times your body weight in incredible xmas fare and now need to go on a diet, and like me you hate diets cos they generally suck. This week is Chocolate Week (14th-20th October), when people across the UK celebrate everything to do with the sugary indulgence. Chocolate remains a household favourite in the UK today, with the average Brit eating approximately 8kg per year, and only five per cent of the population admitting to not enjoying the sweet treat within the past six months.
I teach my daughters to be more like Nigella and maintain financial independence in any relationship they have. I realise she is in a very different financial position to begin with than most of us, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't also keep some money separate for ourselves and retain some financial independence at all cost. It's a huge lesson and I have never wished I was more like Nigella than now.
