Sheena Swemmer

Researcher and attorney based at the Centre for Applied Legal Studies

Sheena Swemmer is a researcher and attorney based at the Centre for Applied Legal Studies (CALS) where she currently heads the Gender Programme. Sheena is completing her PhD at the University of Johannesburg with a thesis focusing on animal law. She also holds BA and LLB degrees from Wits University and an LLM from UJ. She is an admitted attorney and has been fortunate to work on a number of landmark cases on topics ranging from gender-based violence to assisted dying.
