However, what it means to be environmentally aware in the modern world is vastly different. We are now being told that these little changes are not enough, and that we should all band together and make significant alterations to our lifestyles -- many of which come at a steep cost -- to ensure the longevity of our planet and species. Not that I'm complaining!
The world is built upon efficiency, information, and the quantification of big data. At present, the problem we face is that there's too much information and not enough experts to process it. I don't get this rush when someone uploads a new photo album to Facebook hours after an event has happened, before my memories have had the time to ferment. I miss the imperfections and spontaneity that make particular moments special. I miss the days when girls didn't pout and boys didn't brood.

Whether bitcoin or another cryptocurrency overtakes all physical currency (although highly unlikely!), there's no denying that the end is nigh. As hard cash becomes less and less functional the process of extinction will get quicker and quicker.

Whether you love it or hate it, there's no denying that reality television has a firm grasp over modern culture, perhaps more so than any other art form. In fact, it wouldn't be an overstatement to say it has changed the world... surely that makes it legitimate?

The beauty of the web series is its versatility. It can be produced by a casual YouTuber or an A-list star, shot on a cheap smart phone or top-of-the-line ARRI Alexa. There are no genre barriers, worries about distribution, or a studio calling all the shots, deciding what the audience will or will not like.

If the terrible events of this week have proven anything, it's that Theresa May has a callus regard for the safety of British citizens. She wants to be the Iron Lady, Thatcher mark II, but if we are to judge her on her record -- which we all should -- it's clear that all she has is an iron heart.

With just a few days remaining until the election, the Conservatives still have a commanding, but significantly narrowing, lead above Labour. But regardless of the final outcome, one thing's for sure, the political landscape is changing.

The advent of smart phones has given power to the people. The presence, speed and accessibility allows the everyday citizen to report and break news to a global audience faster than traditional journalists, and much faster than news reporters. This has resulted in a society that's more politically active than ever before (and that's a good thing.)

Acquiring theatrical distribution isn't easy. This is a difficult truth that every filmmaker will have to face at some point during their career (usually the beginning). Of course, distribution can be a game-changer, turning an otherwise costly venture into a revenue-generating machine, but failing to acquire it is not a be-all and end-all.

While more and more general consumers are starting to take the implications of carbon emissions seriously, the fashion industry is lagging behind. Green and fair trade designers utilising domestic talent and sustainable technology may be gaining traction among small niches; however, the majority of large scale fashion houses still source cheap labour from overseas and use unethical manufacturing processes.

In fact, while good health is certainly a topic that should be taken seriously, I can't help but think all the scare mongering is having a negative impact on people's lives. We are all being set up to fail, and nothing makes people crave unhealthy food more than when they're feeling low.

The pound is getting weaker by the day. While Brexiters are quick to defend its volatility, it's important to remember that Britain's exit from the EU hasn't actually happened. While a weaker pound does have its benefits, namely by boosting exports, such drastic short-term changes can place considerable strain on resources and labour...

Children these days will literally laugh if you tell them that you used to pay for music; to them it's a free medium. Many don't seem to comprehend what it means for a creative industry to be in decline
