Kanja Ibrahim Sesay

Former NUS Black Student Officer, 2010-2012

Kanja Ibrahim Sesay holds a BA in Law & History from the University of Bradford. Kanja is currently the full-time National Black Students' Officer for the National Union of Students (NUS)
In this nationally elected role Kanja heads the largest organisation of Black students in Europe that represents one million students of African, Asian, Caribbean and Arab heritage students in Britain on issues relating to social, political, and academic under-representation, educational inequality and international policy.

Kanja also is a member of StopWatch Youth Group, which a coalition of activists, that works towards reducing disproportionally and promote best practice in stop and search powers.

Kanja has a long-standing commitment to the anti-racist movement and is a national co-ordinator of the Student Assembly Against Racism and a member of the National steering committee of Unite against Fascism, as well as the national conveyor of the NUS' Anti-Racism/Anti-Fascism Campaign.
