Lord Roberts of Llandudno is a Methodist minister and Lib Dem peer

Born 23 October 1935, Roger Roberts was educated at John Bright Grammar School (Llandudno), University College of North Wales and Handsworth Methodist College (Birmingham). A Methodist Minister from 1957, Rev. Roberts was Superintendent Minister at Llandudno for 20 years before becoming Minister of the Dewi Sant Church, Toronto. He was a long-serving President of the Welsh Liberal Democrats and before that, the Welsh Liberals. He was leader of the Liberal Democrats on Aberconwy Borough Council and candidate for the Conwy constituency five times. Today, he is Vice-President of the Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod, President of Wales International and hon. President of Bite The Ballot, Lib Dems for Seekers of Sanctuary and Friends of Barka UK. He speaks in the Lords on youth affairs, migration and asylum, and Wales.
