Perrie Edwards makes up one quarter of the UK’s biggest girl band, Little Mix, who won ‘The X Factor’ back in 2011. Originally auditioning solo, the South Shields-born singer was put together with Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson and fellow Geordie Jade Thirlwall, and Rhythmix were born (later changing their name, with a bit of help from their mentor, Tulisa, due to a complaint from a charity with that name).
Since being voted the public’s winners, Little Mix have hit the number-one spot in the UK charts three times, with their hits ‘Cannonball’, ‘Wings’ and ‘Black Magic’.
Perrie is known for her unique look, which includes a quirky style and her signature blonde hair, which she dyed purple for a spell during the early days of Little Mix.
She has also never been far away from the headlines, largely thanks to her relationship with a fellow ‘X Factor’ star, Zayn Malik, former member of One Direction. After getting engaged in 2013, the couple announced that they had split up two years later, with reports suggesting he broke up with her via a text message, shortly after leaving the boyband and signing his own record deal.
