The home secretary said the policy is deterring migrants from getting on small boats even though it hasn't begun yet.
"I understandably entirely the point you're making," presenter Charlie Stayt told him.
The presenter was forced to leave Friday's edition of the BBC programme mid-show.
"Well I've been a member of parliament for the last seven years," Chris Philp replied
