It’s not just us humans who are feeling the effects of the summer heatwave - the animal kingdom has been having fun keeping cool, from bears taking a swim to tigers munching on some icy treats. With temperatures this year set to be record-breaking, the RSPCA has urged pet owners to take extra care in the heat to make sure their furry friends have plenty of water and shade.
Plastic litter incidents affecting animals are at an all-time high, according to a report by the RSPCA. The animal welfare charity found a 22% increase in incidents, from 473 in 2015 to 579 in 2018. For seals, the increase has been fourfold in the same period.
“Our country’s wildlife is no match for these dogs once they’re set upon," the RSPCA has warned.
"The footage has to be seen to be believed, it’s just awful."
