Andy Murray Says BBC's Garry Richardson 'Had A Bad Day' (VIDEO)

Andy Murray revealed the BBC's Garry Richardson apologised to him over his dire interview with the Scot following his Wimbledon quarter-final victory.

Having come from two sets down to defeat big-hitting Spaniard Fernando Verdasco, Murray, as is the victor's wont, was immediately interviewed by Today's beleaguered sports presenter.

Because Sir Alex Ferguson was in the Royal Box, Richardson made a pathetic and satirical effort to draw parallels with Murray and Manchester United. Murray was unimpressed when Richardson suggested his coach, Ivan Lendl, may offer his own brand of the "hairdryer" treatment despite the world number two winning a five-set epic.

"I don't see why I should get told off after that," Murray shrugged.

Having belatedly realised how daft he sounded for a 50-something journalist, Richardson opted for sycophancy.

"And it is a fantastic achievement to make another Wimbledon semi-final. Brilliant for you. Such character."

By this point Murray can barely contain his contempt and after the interview finishes he ignores Richardson's final gesture.

Later on Wednesday evening, Murray asked fans to not be "too hard" on Richardson, who had experienced a "bad day".

The BBC have received criticism for their Wimbledon coverage over commentators' bias towards Murray, while Rishi Persad was slammed for Saturday's post-match interview with the triumphant Laura Robson, in which he asked her about One Direction's Harry Styles.
