Liverpool will complete the transfer of Emre Can for £9.75 million from Bayer Leverkusen.

Midfielder Can, 20, will join the Reds "subject to documentation being completed"

The deal, "agreed in principle", will take the club's spending up to £13.75m following the arrival of Rickie Lambert from Southampton.

Can's likely arrival could effect Liverpool's pursuit of Adam Lallana. The club had a £25m offer rejected by Southampton, who are holding out for £30m.

Germany youth international Can joined Leverkusen from Bayern Munich last summer and make 29 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring three goals.
