Portuguese sports 'paper O Jogo claim the Gunners will offer Sporting €30 million for the defensive midfielder, despite a £37m release clause in his contract.
Carvalho was named in Portugal's World Cup squad
Carvalho, 22, was scouted by Manchester United last season however their interest in him cooled following David Moyes' sacking in April.

The Angola-born Portuguese international played 45 minutes for the national side against the United States at the World Cup as a substitute before he started their final group game against Ghana.
