Boudewijn Zenden has rejoined Chelsea as the club's assistant manager to new interim coach Rafael Benítez.

The Dutchman, who spent three years with the Blues after moving from Barcelona in 2001, played under the Spaniard for two years at Liverpool.

A £7.5m Claudio Ranieri buy 11 years ago, the former Holland international scored just four times for the Blues.

He replaces Eddie Newton, who has vacated the role along with the sacked Roberto di Matteo.
