Euro 2012 has showcased some terrific football and some terrible officiating. The latter certainly continued in Donetsk during England and Ukraine's Group D match.
Marko Devic's shot looped goalwards via a deflection off of Joe Hart clearly crossed the line, yet the additional official beside the goal (AKA the human chocolate teapot) nor the linesman awarded the joint hosts a goal as the scurrying John Terry cleared the ball.
The linesman had already fouled up by not flagging Devic offside when he was a yard ahead of the play as he received the ball. Moments before that he had also failed to flag Artem Milevskiy, whose header narrowly went over, when in an offside position.
Uefa and Fifa remain resistant to officials consulting replays, but with referees and linesmen standards getting worse, it is the logical solution. Here's why...
