After the anti-climax of day one, Britain hoped for more success on day two, with and Rebecca Adlington took hope bronze at the Aquatic Centre and while Lizzie Armitstead secured silver at the Women's Road Race.
There were also GB Olympians arrowing for glory at Lord's and Ben Ainslie making waves at Weymouth.
Meanwhile, in the judo, Colin Oates got the crowd roaring by getting through to the quarter-finals and Zara Phillips competed in the dressage with the Princess Royal and the Duke of Edinburgh looking on.
At Eton Dorney, meanwhile, crowds watched men's double sculls, men's lightweight four, men's single sculls, women's single sculls, women's lightweight double sculls, men's lightweight double sculls and women's eight.
Sports stars also battled it out in fencing, hockey, handball, canoe slalom, boxing, basketball and handball, shooting and weightlifting.
