Although there are 10 more matches to be played this year, it is time to make amends for the dearth of news and select the best Premier League goals of 2013.

The catalogue consists of volleys, free-kicks, distant shots, solo goals and team goals from the calendar year, so there's no Cameron Jerome against Southampton.

That goal actually came on 29 December last year, so this list may yet be updated...

Robin van Persie commemorated Manchester United's glory night with an impeccably timed belter which arguably bettered his efforts for Arsenal against Everton and Liverpool.Wayne Rooney's telegraphed pass was perfect, but Van Persie could not afford to take his eye off the ball for a mili-second. His patience, movement and, above all, finish past Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan was genuinely great. The Dutchman possibly robbed Matt Lowton, whose control-and-volley at Stoke was a bona fide stunner, of goal of last season.Pajtim Kasami hit one of the goals of this season at Crystal Palace with a ridiculously good chest-and-volley on the run.Luis Suárez flighted a beautiful lob at Norwich in his first hat-trick past the Canaries, and hit a thumping volley past them when their defenders were daft enough to stand off him, during Liverpool's rout of the Yellows in December.Papiss Cissé has had an unhappy 2013, but it was at least enriched by his thumping effort against Southampton. Yaya Touré has emerged as the Premier League's set-piece specialist this season, which is no mean feat considering Alexsandar Kolarov is always standing by.His effort at Fulham - which kissed the bar on its way in - was not only precise but also aesthetically pleasing. So was Ross Barkley's at Swansea. Although not as precise as Touré's, by clipping the bar it limited the chances of Gerhard Tremmel keeping out the 20-year-old's winner. His teammate, Leighton Baines, hit two at West Ham and, while the first one was saveable, the second was majestic. Yohan Cabaye was wonderfully accurate in Newcastle's defeat to Reading (credit:Getty Images)

The hype surrounding Gareth Bale was largely unjustified until 2013, when the Welshman became a truly world-class forward. He cemented that status with a ridiculous stoppage-time winner against West Ham when, for once, Jussi Jaaskelainen's statuesque goalkeeping could not be questioned.David Luíz's scorcher at Fulham was literally unsaveable, and Mr Not A Great Goalscorer But Scorer of Great Goals, Hatem ben Arfa, t*****d one in against Fulham. Jordon Mutch announced himself to the Premier League with thunderous aplomb at Fulham, too, while Daniel Sturridge was subtler, with a delicate chip over Boaz Myhill (credit:Getty Images)

Arsenal's Total Football tribute versus Norwich was a perfect tutorial for one-touch artistry, and kudos to Stoke, who played some on-the-deck stuff for the first time in yonks at Swansea. Their neat move was coolly finished by Stephen Ireland (credit:Getty Images)

Ravel Morrison showed everyone why he was touted as Manchester United's best youth product since Paul Scholes with his mesmeric run at Tottenham, while Adam Lallana showed great ball control and composure - despite the tentativeness of Hull's defenders.Gareth Bale scored another superb solo goal at Norwich, although this one wasn't a winner, and Pablo Osvaldo's equaliser against Manchester City might not have consisted of a long run, but he bamboozled Vincent Kompany and finished past the League's tallest goalkeeper (credit:PA)
