Cristiano Ronaldo is two goals shy of another record following Real Madrid's 3-1 Champions League second leg win over Schalke in the round-of-16.
Ronaldo scored twice as Madrid registered an emphatic 9-2 aggregate victory and the Portuguese is on track to break Lionel Messi's record for most goals scored in a Champions League campaign.

The Real forward hit his 12th and 13th strikes of the European campaign and has at least two quarter-final legs to break Messi's 2011-12 haul of 14. Fifteen goals would make make him the highest scorer in a European Cup campaign.
Trumping Messi would give Ronaldo extra satisfaction
Ronaldo has now struck a sensational 41 times this term, as Alvaro Morata provided the other on a night Madrid's win was soured by a serious injury to talented young forward Jese.
Tim Hoogland's heavily deflected strike was all Schalke had to show from their trip to Madrid, although Jens Keller's men were at least spared a repeat of the abject drubbing they suffered on home turf last month.
