Wayne Rooney scored twice as England beat Scotland 3-1 at Celtic Park on Tuesday night.

Rooney moved within four goals of Bobby Charlton's England goal scoring record after his two strikes against the Scots. Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain opened the scoring and England dominated the match even when Andrew Robertson pulled one back for the Scots with seven minutes to go, England have now won six out of their last six matches.

Manager Roy Hodgson said after the game, speaking about Wayne Rooney goal scoring record, “Good for Wayne. It’s been a nice three or four days for him.

"We had the six-day build-up to Slovenia, his 100th cap, and that was a good occasion and victory. We added to that with this victory in Scotland, a hard place to come and win. I’m sure Wayne is delighted."
