Sir Alex Ferguson, who has already had Old Trafford's main stand renamed after him and 'happy birthday' sung to him before a game, will further cement his legacy at Manchester United when he witnesses the unveiling of his statue today at the club's ground.

Eric Cantona, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Gary and Phil Neville and several other former greats who played under the Scot will be present for the occasion this afternoon in Manchester. The statue was commissioned to mark the 12-time Premier League champion's 25 years in charge at the Theatre of Dreams.

Ferguson becomes the latest football figure to be immortalised in Britain, with one departed legend erected in two separate locations.

Here's the best (and one worst) of them...
