The Good Morning Britain star revealed earlier this week her husband was in hospital again due to life-threatening sepsis.
"We are again fighting to get him home."
"The important thing is, is we’re back on the right side of it now," she said as she returned to GMB after a three-week absence.
The Good Morning Britain presenter thanked the NHS staff who had been treating her husband in intensive care.
"Fingers crossed Derek will be home as soon as possible," Ben Shephard said.
"He’s been coming in and out. Hopefully he’ll come out again."
Derek previously spent over a year in hospital after contracting Covid in the early days of the pandemic.
"I don’t know whether I can leap up and hug you but I’m going to. Thank you so much."
