London 2012's opening ceremony isn't until this evening, but the Olympic Games have already started, and continued at Lord's cricket ground with the archery on Friday morning.

The Home of Cricket is hosting all archery contests as a number of London landmarks outside of Stratford welcome visitors to some of the capital's most iconic venues.

Whitehall will witness the beach volleyball with temporary grandstands erected in Horse Guards Parade, while Greenwich Park houses the equestrian competitions, plus the combined running and shooting event of the Modern Pentathlon.

Princess Anne was also in attendance at the Marylebone Cricket Club to give a Royal seal of approval on the first official date of the 30th Olympiad, as the contest follows the opening women and men's football fixtures, played at Hampden Park, the Millennium Stadium and Old Trafford.
