United Fan Suffers Cardiac Arrest At Old Trafford During Hull Game
|

A Manchester United supporter suffered a cardiac arrest at Old Trafford during the Reds' final home game of the season against Hull.

The 55-year-old man was sat in the south stand and was taken ill during the second-half of United's 3-1 win.

Ambulance paramedics were called by stewards and administered CPR in an attempt to resuscitate him. He was then taken to Salford Royal hospital on stand-by, however his condition is now understood to be stable, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The commotion seemed to begin when Ryan Giggs set off on his warm-up at around 9.15pm. Giggs, noticeably, ended his exercise quickly and appeared to witness the drama unfold.

Several supporters were so traumatised they left, according to one eye-witness.

A supporter said: "It was obvious that something was seriously wrong. You saw a bit of a commotion and fans beckoned for stewards and paramedics to rush over.

"Immediately you could see the severity of it. It carried on for about 10 minutes before he was carried down the players' tunnel, and the Stretford End applauded as he left."

A North West Ambulance service added: “We are always in attendance at City and United home matches. Have ambulance staff based in the control room and ambulances within the ground.

“In this case, we were able to give assistance quickly and the man was taken to hospital which was on stand-by.”
