Australia have qualified for the 2014 World Cup after a 1-0 victory against Iraq.

Substitute Josh Kennedy headed in an 83rd-minute winner in monsoon conditions in Sydney.

Brazil 2014 will be the Socceroos' third consecutive finals after their Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010 appearances after their West Germany 1974 debut.

In 2006, Australia reached the last 16 only to lose to eventual winners and 10-man Italy courtesy of a late Francesco Totti penalty, after registering four points in a group consisting of Brazil, Croatia and Japan.

But despite accumulating the same number of points four years later they bowed out at the group stage behind Germany and Ghana.
