Hull City 'Tigers' Name Change Proposal Rejected By FA

City Till They Die - FA Reject 'Hull Tigers' Name Change Proposal
|

Hull City owner Assem Allam's application to change the name of the club to Hull Tigers has been rejected by the Football Association.

Allam's plans were met with mutiny by a vocal section of supporters and those against the change were boosted three weeks ago when the FA's membership committee said it would give a "unanimous recommendation" for the plan to be rejected.

Although a recent survey of season ticket holders gave Allam encouragement, with 2,565 supporting the name change compared to 2,517 going against him, 9,159 supporters did not vote.

And now the FA has confirmed 63.5% of its council voted against the name change.

Hull face Sheffield United in their FA Cup semi-final in over 80 years on Sunday at Wembley - the FA's headquarters.

A statement on hullcitytigers.com read: "The club will not be making any comment on the outcome of today's FA meeting.
