MP's wife Christine Hemming, who took a kitten from the home of her husband's long-term lover, has been given a nine-month suspended sentence at Birmingham Crown court.

Hemming, the wife of the MP for Birmingham Yardley, was found guilty of burglary last month having been filmed on CCTV snatching the animal from the home of Emily Cox in 2010.

Hemming, 53, was given 150 hours of community service and will pay costs of £1,000.
