Ukip Victory As Three Members Of Ransome Family Win Seats In Boston Local Council Election

Ransome Family Take Three Seats For Ukip

Ukip success in the 2013 local elections was a distinctly family affair in Boston as a mother and two of her daughters won seats.

Sue Ransome, 61, and daughters Felicity, 27, and Elizabeth, 26, were victorious with father Don and third sibling jodie, 36, coming second, reports the BBC.

Speaking after her victory Sue said: "I can't quite believe it.

"We're used to coming second, third, but never first. It's great, a dream come true.

"I'm elated. Fed-up with always being the bridesmaid and never the bride so now finally I'm the bride," reports the Boston Standard.

Despite coming second, father Don was already setting out the political future.

He said: "We fielded five cadidates from my family. We’ve kept the flame alive through the bad times and the good times have finally come around.

"Now we have got to set to and get to work at County Hall."

The family's victory reflected wider success for Ukip as they took seats across the elections sending a "shockwave" through the political establishment according to party leader Nigel Farage.
