How Would Doctor Who And Postman Pat Vote?

Have you ever wondered how Doctor Who or Postman Pat would vote? Of course you have. How do we know? Because polling firm YouGov asked you.

The pollsters surveyed 1,744 adults between 4 and 5 April on which political parties they thought fictional characters would back at the next election.

Norwich local and DJ Alan Partridge was viewed to be a strong supporter of the Conservative Party, with 43% of those polled believing that he would vote for David Cameron.

Madcap seaside hotel owner Basil 'don't mention the war' Fawlty was also, unsurprisingly, seen by 57% of people to be a supporter of the Tories, while 12% believed he would back Ukip.

As for Doctor Who, 23% felt he would back the Green Party - he does spend most of his time trying to save the planet after all.

Cringe-worthy David Brent was seen by 42% of people to be a Tory, while a whopping 87% of people felt Hyacinth Bucket (it's pronounced 'Bouquet') would also back the Conservatives.

Labour were seen to have the strong support of Eastender Phil Mitchell (42%), but 23% thought he would back the far-right BNP.

Postman Pat and Fireman Sam were also viewed by an overwhelming number of people to be supporters of the Labour Party - perhaps because they are public sector workers who will have seen their pay frozen by the coalition.

Of those surveyed 29% thought Pat would vote for Ed Miliband (presumably by postal ballot) and 33% thought Sam would do the same.

But 12% of Sam fans, recognizing his Welsh roots, thought he would be more likely to vote for Plaid Cymru.

Unfortunately people were not polled on who they thought Jess the cat would vote for. George Galloway perhaps?
