Douglas Carswell has told his Twitter followers about his progress at the online game Hello Kitty World, and he seems to be doing really well.

The Ukip MP amused many on Twitter by inviting his followers to "come play" the game with him, in which you create your "dream amusement park" with the Japanese pop-culture icon.

Reporters wondered if the Clacton MP's Twitter account had been hacked, while the Tories did not seem so keen to take up their former colleague's offer.

However, Carswell admitted that his five-year old daughter was responsible, unsurprisingly tempted by the fact that you get extra points in the game for tweeting.

"That's the last time I leave the five year old in charge of the iPad," he wrote. "But it is a great game!"

Carswell has posted about playing Hello Kitty World last year, showing that over that time, he, or his daughter, has made excellent progress at building their fantasy theme park.

The Sun published pictures of Nigel Mills playing the online game Candy Crush Saga during a Works and Pensions Committee meeting, of which he is a member.

Meanwhile, Liberal Democrat chief secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander was spotted answering basic maths questions on his iPad.
