Man Or Mouse: Larry The Downing Street Cat Catches First Mouse

Larry The Downing Street Cat Weighs In On 'Man Or Mouse' Debate

Larry the Downing Street cat has weighed in with his own offering to the 'Man or Mouse' debate currently being waged over Heathrow's third runway.

The 5-year-old feline has killed his first mouse.

Larry had adopted an apathetic attitude towards rodent control, despite being brought in last year to help curb the mouse problem at No 10.

There had been rumours that Larry's inability to carry out his duties was to result in an ignoble expulsion from Downing Street.

Larry has been somewhat somnolent, neglecting his duties since being adopted from Battersea Cats and Dogs Home

Hounded by the press: Larry haughtily turns away from the cameras (the mouse can be seen lying in the grass behind)

However, it seems the cat has been saved… by a whisker.

"I can confirm that the cat did kill a mouse this morning," a Downing Street spokeswoman said.

The irony of Larry's timing wasn't lost on the spokesperson: "The only dead mouse in Downing Street is the one Larry caught this morning," she quipped.

Larry was unavailable for comment.
