The couple, who met in Barbados, have been together for ten years and have a daughter, Scarlett.

The split comes at a busy time for Melanie, who is busy working on a range of projects.

She is currently part of the casting team for ITV's Jesus Christ Superstar and busy working on Viva Forever!, the Spice Girls musical.

Last week, she confirmed she is reuniting musically with one of the Spice Girls. She and Emma Bunton have just recorded a cover Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickson's I Know Him So Well.

Announcing the news on Twitter last week, she wrote:

With all that going on and being a mum to little Scarlett, it's a wonder she's got time for anything else.
