"I can't stand them after one once flew in through my bathroom window and went for me while I was having a wee. That was enough. I think pigeons target me."
Bandmate Harry Styles added: "Niall's really scared of pigeons. We have to protect him."
Sir Paul McCartney is looking out for the lads too, as he has warned them about putting themselves under too much pressure after their huge US success.
Speaking on Daybreak this morning, Macca said that comparisons to the Beatles will put the boys under strain.
“There are so many bands who all get called the next Beatles. And suddenly it puts an awful lot of pressure on them to be the next Beatles," he said.
“Oasis were the next Beatles once, if you remember. It's the kiss of death.
“It’s a pressure, because suddenly you’ve got to live up to all the things that we did, and it was a different time. So let’s just call them ‘the next terrific band’.
“They’re doing well in America, it’s good, good luck lads.”
