Missing Women Found After Ten Years
|

Three young women from America who went missing separately, one more than 10 years ago, have been found alive in the basement of a residential house in Cleveland, Ohio.

Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, Michelle Knight and an unknown six-year-old girl were found in the house and were taken to hospital for initial assessments but appeared to be in good health.

They have now been reunited with their families, although Amanda Berry's mother died in 2006 before she had a chance to meet her daughter again. She had spent the previous three years looking for Amanda, who disappeared in 2003.

Police said the suspects are Hispanic, aged 50, 52 and 54, and one of them had lived at the house on Seymour Avenue.

Neighbour Charles Ramsay described in remarkable detail how he rescued the women after hearing screams.

He told a local news reporter "I heard screaming, I'm eating my McDonalds and I see this girl going nuts trying to get out the house. I go in the porch and she says 'help me get out, I been here a long time.' I figured it was a domestic violence dispute, so I try and get in the door, but we couldn't get in that way, because the way the door opened, a body couldnt fit through, only a hand, and she comes out with a little girl and she says 'call 911 my name is Amanda Berry...there are other girls inside '

"And this was my neighbour, I thought you got some big testicles to pull this off bro, we see this dude every day, I barbeque with this dude, we listen to salsa and eat ribs together, and we had not a clue."

A 911 call released by the police reveals Berry begging for the officers to arrive before her kidnapper returns. She is heard saying: "I'm Amanda Berry. I've been on the news for the last 10 years.

"I've been kidnapped, and I've been missing for 10 years. And I'm here. I'm free now."

Berry was kidnapped in 2003, when she was 16, after telling her sister she had managed to get a lift home from her job at Burger King. DeJesus went missing at age 14 on her way home from school about a year later. They were found just a few miles from where they had gone missing. Knight went missing in 2002 and is 32 now.
