Tube Station Staff At Covent Garden Pay Tribute To 'Fearless' Bob Crow

Tube station staff at Covent Garden London Underground station have left a tribute to RMT leader Bob Crow, who died today aged 52.

Workers at the tube stop Instagrammed this picture of their "quote of the day" sign, adapted to remember Mr Crow.

Quoting Mark Twain in a gothic script, they wrote: "Fear of death follows fear of life.

"A man who lives life fully is prepared to die at any time.

"RIP Robert Crow RMT. 13/06/1961 - 11/03/2014"

Mr Crow died in the early hours of this morning after suffering a heart attack.

He was one of the most high-profile, left-wing union leaders of his generation, sparking as much anger from passengers hit by rail and Tube strikes, as praise from his members for winning pay rises.

Bob Crow was also involved in a number of high-profile spats with London Mayor Boris Johnson, most notably over strikes by London Underground workers.

In a blog post for the Huffington Post UK, the union leader had described why tube workers went on strike earlier this year, saying: "We will not accept a scandalous attempt to dress up savage, austerity-led cuts under the cloak of 'modernisation'."
