Britain's Oldest Person Celebrates Chistmas

Britain's oldest person - 113-year-old Grace Jones - has celebrated a traditional Christmas dinner in the company of friends and her local MP.

Liberal Democrat deputy leader Simon Hughes took Grace, who is one of his constituents, to enjoy turkey with all the trimmings at an annual meal organised by Bermondsey Care for the Elderly.

Grace is Britain's oldest person

She is the oldest of five supercentenarians - people who have attained the age of at least 110 years - living in the UK and the only one to have started her life in the 19th century, when Queen Victoria was on the throne. There are estimated to be only 300 to 450 living supercentenarians worldwide.

"I had quite a good time today," said Grace who was suffering a little from tiredness.

"But I woke up for some reason at 5am."

She still had enough energy after the six-hour party to go home and enjoy a glass of sherry with friends.
