London 2012 'Shaping Up To Be Among The Best Olympics Of All Time'

London 2012 is shaping up to be among the best Olympic games of all time, the chief of the US team has said.

Teresa Edwards, a former basket ball champion and Team USA's chef de mission, heaped praise on the sporting venues and said: "I wish I was playing.

"These games, I can honestly say from my heart, are very exciting for me.

"It's very enriching to watch young talent come to the forefront that we didn't anticipate.

"These athletes have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time, have worked and sacrificed to be here.

"What better environment? It's beautiful here: the weather's great; the people are awesome; the venues are great; everywhere I've been has been packed. I think it's some of the best Games."

Her feelings were apparently shared by the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF).

Mark Adams, of the International Olympic Committee, said: "We had a report back (from the ASOIF) - and they can be pretty tough at times - where they said this was probably the best games they had ever been to."

He said the ASOIF had received "no complaints at all" from sports federations.

"That's pretty amazing - they can be pretty tough task masters," he added.
