Police surround a sheet covered body on a Fifth Avenue sidewalk as they investigate a multiple shooting outside the Empire State Building in New York. At least four people were shot on Friday morning and the gunman was dead, New York City officials said. A witness said the gunman was firing indiscriminately. Police said as many as 10 people were injured, but it is unclear how many were hit by bullets. A law enforcement official said the shooting was related to a workplace dispute. An employee of 'Lightworks' makes some finishing touches to a large scale astronaut model before being installed on Blackpool Promenade. Lightworks are responsible for producing, storing and restoring the many thousands of items that make up the annual Blackpool Illuminations. Every year Blackpool attracts over 3 Million visitors, many of whom come to witness the famous illuminations, which started back in 1879 with a display of eight arc lamps. Around 100 miles of party lights, 200 miles of wiring, 5,000 floodlights and in excess of one million lamps make up the display, which when completed stretch approximately six miles along the Lancashire sea side town promenade.
