Gito, the baby orangutan left to die in a urine-soaked cardboard box in #Borneo, is now strong and healthy enough to attend pre-school at the orangutan centre where he is undergoing rehabilitation. Gito, who was described by the team at International Animal Rescue (IAR) as “corpse-like and almost mummified” when he was found, is shown in a new video swinging happily and confidently on a climbing frame with other orphaned baby orangutans. He is completely unrecognisable as the mange-ridden creature whose life was hanging in the balance when he first arrived at IAR’s clinic some three months ago. During his time in quarantine, Gito has developed sufficient #strength in his arms and legs to climb and swing like any other young orangutan his age. As he is still less than a year old, he has just joined pre-school, a new section set up by the team at the IAR centre to cater for the many small babies that have recently been rescued.
