A hungry kingfisher swoops in to catch a fresh fish for its lunch by piercing through the water at an incredible speed. The peckish bird spotted the common rudd swimming just above the stones at the bottom of the water and wasted no time by diving in to grab it. It had spent time flying above the water to carefully select the fish he wanted to eat before nosediving to catch the fish in its beak. The adult male bird was seen catching its fresh lunch near the River Alde in Rendham, Suffolk. Butchery manager and wildlife photographer, Paul Sawer, travelled to the river to take photographs of the hungry kingfishers flying above. Mr Sawer, 43, from Saxmundham, Suffolk, said: "When the kingfisher is feeding its chicks it catches around 100 fish each day.
