The BBC has apologised after tweeting a photo of a Tory MP in the House of Commons suggesting that he was asleep, when he's actually partially deaf.

Tory MP for Elmet and Rothwell Alec Shelbrooke told Media Guido: “I am genuinely slightly deaf and struggle to hear. I had taken part in the debate and was trying to hear the wind ups. Seems a shame I get trolled due to being slightly deaf.”

The original tweet (below) was deleted by BBC Newsbeat, but not before it picked up pace on Twitter, with other users also claiming he was snoozing.
