A toddler was left black and blue after she was beaten up by two-year-old at her nursery.

Katie Ann Guttridge sustained a bruised eye socket, scratches and bite marks after she was attacked during playtime at a pre-school nursery in Leicester.

Police were called to investigate the assault, but no action will be taken because the girl is under the age of criminal responsibility, the Sun reported.

Katie Ann’s parents are now demanding the “out-of-control” culprit is removed from the nursery, after she reportedly attacked ten other children.

Katie Ann’s mother Clara Mackow told the Daily Mail: “She was almost blinded in the attack which was totally unprovoked.

“She had gashes to her lips and a terrible black eye. Katie looked like she had been in a fight and a dog had mauled her. We had to take her to hospital because the doctors thought she had fractured her eye socket.”

Ms Mackow is preparing to take legal action against the nursery following the 13 December attack.

The nursery manager said she was working closely with the local authority, parents and pre-school.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said: "The parents came into the police station on December 13 and said their three-year-old daughter had been injured at a nursery by a two-year-old child.

"But as the girl is below the age of criminal responsibility there is nothing further the police can do.

"We suggested the parents make a complaint to the nursery and to their local authority."

Meanwhile, Leicestershire County Council said it had offered support to both the school and the parents following reports of an incident involving two children.

A spokesman for Ofsted said: "Ofsted is aware of the case and is conducting its own investigation to see whether the provider is meeting the legal requirements of registration."
