Woolwich Suspects Deny Murder Of Lee Rigby In Court

Woolwich Suspects DENY Murder Of Lee Rigby
|

The Woolwich murder suspects have sensationally both denied the murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby.

Appearing via videolink at the Old Bailey, Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, were charged with killing the father-of-one as he returned to Woolwich barracks in south-east London on 22 May.

The 25-year-old died from multiple cut and stab wounds when he was brutally attacked in Artillery Place.

His widow today broke down in tears as the two men denied his murder.

They also each denied attempting to murder a police officer on the same day of Fusilier Rigby's death, as well as conspiracy to murder a police officer on or before that day.

Adebolajo, who has asked to be known as Mujaahid Abu Hamza in court, has claimed that he was attacked by prison guards while being held on remand at high-security jail Belmarsh, and lost two teeth while he was restrained.

The Prison Officers' Association insisted that the staff had used only approved techniques.

The trial date has been set for 18 November.
