No, it’s not a late entry to last night’s Met Gala fashion-fest.

Pamela Anderson marked her first visit to Belmarsh to see Julian Assange in a cape appearing to mention English revolutionary Oliver Cromwell, “free speech” and “gagged”.

The Baywatch star is the first person to visit Assange, who is currently spending 50 weeks inside south-east London’s Belmarsh prison for bail violation.

The actor told reporters after the visit that it was “very difficult” to see the WikiLeaks founder behind bars.

“He does not deserve to be in a supermax prison. He has never committed a violent act. He is an innocent person,” she said.

She revealed that he has no access to information, is “really cut off from everybody” and has not been able to speak to his children.

“He is a good man, he is an incredible person. I love him, I can’t imagine what he has been going through,” Anderson added.

“It was great to see him, but this is just misrule of law in operation. It is absolute shock that he has not been able to get out of his cell.”

Revealing she felt sick and nauseous, Anderson appeared to wipe her eyes and turn away from the press.

It is a far cry from the comforts of the Ecuadorian embassy in Knightsbridge, which Anderson would often visit (at times, bearing a gift of a vegan lunch), to see the embattled WikiLeaks founder.

Anderson has thrown her voice behind the campaign to free Assange, 47, who is fighting extradition to the United States over WikiLeaks’ activities.
