BIGGLESWADE, ENGLAND - JULY 21: Shuttleworth Collection Pilot Rob Millinship, poses next to a Sopwith Pup during a photocall at 'The Shuttlesworth Collection' on July 21, 2014 in Biggleswade, England. Of the 55,000 planes that were manufactured by the Royal Army Corps (RAC) during WWI, only around 20 remain in airworthy condition. Six of these belong to The Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden, Bedfordshire, making it the most complete collection of original airworthy WWI aircraft in the world. Amongst the collection is the SE5a. The SE5a is a single seater fighter aircraft. It is an original biplane designed by the Royal Aircraft Factory, with its engine built by Wolseley Motors Ltd, and it was issued to 84 Squadron in November 1918. The National Archive in Kew has recently verified that the plane saw action in France with 84 Squadron the day before Armistice, November 10, 1918. This image shows a lightweight F-16 fighter aircraft in 'Type 1000' storage, having undergone an engine removal, flipped onto another F-16 in high winds at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. The steel cable tie-downs used to secure the aircraft to the desert floor snapped as a result of the gusting winds associated to the storm possibly exceeding 65 miles per hour. Winds and heavy rain caused damage to several buildings across the base as well as base housing during a monsoon on 13 July. There were no injuries reported due to this severe weather event and negligible operational aircraft damage. Flying operations commenced as normal Monday afternoon. 'Type 1000' storage is described as the most "ready" storage of a plane at the Davis-Monthan, where planes are kept in good shape and wrapped in latex for easy reactivation in case of an emergency.
