No hosepipe ban

There are no plans for a hosepipe ban in Britain, despite the sweltering weather, water bosses have confirmed.

The heatwave engulfing most of the country is set to last at least until next week, forecasters say, and probably until the end of the month.

Wednesday is set to be the hottest yet, peaking at 32C in the South East.

But while hosepipes were banned last year during torrential April showers, there are no plans for a repeat.

Neil Dhot, spokesman for UK water, told the BBC: "People should carry on with their lives and continue to water their plants and fill their paddling pools, but as always we would ask people to be mindful about how they use their water."
