As weather chaos continues to sweep Britain, heartbreaking new images have emerged of emergency forces battling to make sure the four-legged members of flood-hit families are safe.

The RSPCA has issued guidelines to help animal-lovers keep their pets protected in the dangerous conditions.

Further flooding is expected in parts of the UK, as forecasters warn stormy weather could bring the "strongest" winds of winter and a month's rainfall in the coming days.
