Viagra worth £6,000 has been stolen from the Ministry of Defence, we learned on Tuesday morning.

The revelation, prompted by a Parliamentary question, has led to plenty of wisecracks about hardened criminals and forces standing for attention.

But why was it there in the first place?

The MoD said Sildenafil (Viagra) was used by the Forces as an altitude sickness remedy.

It sent HuffPost UK an explanation, saying the drug relieved the symptoms of high-altitude pulmonary oedema.

Bit of an anti-climax.
