A woman has been fined after she broke into a giraffe’s zoo pen and was rewarded with a lick and then a kick to the face.
According to a police report, Amanda Hall climbed over one fence of the Madison zoo and was about to get over a second when she encountered the 12-foot-tall animal named Wally.
The 24-year-old, who told officers she climbed into the exhibit because she “loves giraffes” was fined $686 for harassment of zoo animals, the Associated Press writes.
The giraffe responded to the intrusion by kicking her in the head (file picture)
Wally flicked out his tongue, apparently didn't like what he could taste and promptly delivered a kick to Hall's face.
She is not thought to have been badly injured during the incident on Saturday afternoon.
Henry Vilas Zoo Curator Jeff Stafford Told ABC7 the giraffe was simply reacting to someone coming into its territory.
“So an animal is going to have a similar response. That’s probably what happened in this case.”
